Neighbourhood

Bedford Park is an established residential neighbourhood with charming tree-lined streets running east and west from the lively upper Yonge Street. It’s a sought after location, near all the conveniences including shops, restaurants, great parks and easy access to transit. It is considered to be an excellent school district which attracts families to the area.

Bedford Park is bounded by Brooke Avenue to the North, Lawrence Avenue East to the South and Yonge Street to the East, Avenue Road to the West.

History

Today, Yonge & Lawrence is a busy intersection where families are visiting the library, having coffee with friends, shopping or accessing the subway. Back in the 1970’s and 1980’s this intersection was used as a stop for farmers and became a hub for the north end of Toronto. In the 1890’s, the Metropolitan Street Railway was developed.

Most of the homes were built between 1890 and 1940 and are a mixture of detached and semi-detached houses. In more recent decades, these homes have undergone extensive renovations or have been completely re-built. The area now has a mixture of traditional style, combined with more modern new homes.

Real Estate

Bedford Park is a strong real estate choice due to it being a well established neighbourhood in an excellent location and there is high demand for the area’s public and private schools. There are also the conveniences for anything you might need as you head up Yonge, North of Lawrence.
